As soon as valuable data is stored on h1 (which is: now) a backup mechanism is needed.
For a start, it may be best to set up a cronjob on my local machine which copies over data defined in a whitelist (e.g. Redmine DB, config files).
Needs to support basic versioning. If running on my notebook, it should run only when appropriate, e.g. when connected to home WiFi, AC Power, keeping priority (CPU and IO) low.
