[IPFS](https://ipfs.io/) stands for _interplanetary file system_.
It uses a [DHT](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distributed_hash_table), [Merkle Tree](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkle_tree) and other fancy tech to create a distributed, global storage space.
It was designed with an additional incentive layer in mind (named _Filecoin_), but that's not yet ready.
