Corda was open sourced (announcement).
Background: A large consortium of big banks formed around the fintech R3 as the R3 consortium.
The move comes after the consortium started to crumble. I guess not a very cooperative environment...
Corda is written in Kotlin which Thomas is proud of already have had in a lab10 meetup :-)
It's built specifically for managing legal agreements, with privacy and scalability in mind. What does that mean in practice, compared to e.g. Ethereum? Needs research.

In Vienna there was an event related to this research project about Hybrid Virtual Power Plants.
This is a centralized approach to deal with the complexity, unpredictability and decentralization added by renewable power sources.
Project partners include AIT(leader), Grazer Energie Agentur (GEA) and Energie Steiermark (Kunden and Netze). In regard to #19 it became apparent that it's tricky to find an incentive for EVUs/Electric utilities to buy into a decentralized system which they don't control.
Voucher (#27). Learn from Lyoness. We're in contact with Ex-CTO of Lyoness (TODO: find out who and create contact).
AAE has a charging system named LRM16 which they promote to public entities, companies and energy utilities.
Could be an interesting partner with regard to #19, but also #28 (as additional payment method).
